The Science

From freshwater sponge to a precise cosmetic delivery system.

What is Spongilla?

A freshwater sponge with a skeleton of silica needles.

Spongilla lives in lakes and streams. Its skeleton has organic fibres (spongin, a collagen-like protein) and tiny silica needles called spicules.

Under the microscope each spicule is porous with a long inner cavity, almost like a miniature cannelloni, so it works as part of a controlled delivery system.

Spongilla sponge and spicules

Why the 4th generation is different

Traditional Spongilla powder is one non-uniform mixture. BIOSPICULE™ uses four types of Spongilla, purified and sorted by size.

Purification

Purification

Unwanted residues removed, microscopic structures cleaned.

Sorting

Sorting

Short and long spicules balanced for each product.

Concentration

Concentration

Exact strength per product: 1.5%, 2.5% or 10%.

Two parallel mechanisms

Resurfacing and delivery.

Resurfacing

During massage the spicules cross the stratum corneum with controlled stimulation. Dead cells go gradually and skin is prepared for the actives.

Delivery

They open temporary microscopic pathways in the outer skin so actives applied in the treatment can work better, and can stay in the skin up to 72 hours.

Inside the skin, product by product

Cell Renew 1.5%

EpidermisDermis

Moderate spicules, outer layers

Cellular Age Defense 2.5%

EpidermisDermis

More spicules, noticeable tingle

Micro Boost 10%

EpidermisDermis

40% short + 60% long
